What will MediationList Training offer?
We plan to offer online courses for mediators, starting with the continuing education some states require to stay on a court roster, and later initial training. Nothing is open yet. We'll show each course's approval status by state, and we won't call a course approved until the state body has approved it.
Does mediation training make me a certified mediator?
Not by itself. In states that certify or list court mediators, training is one requirement among others, such as education, observed mediations, an application and a background check, and only the state body grants certification. Many states have no statewide credential at all, so check your state's requirements first.
How many hours of mediation training do I need?
It depends on your state and the type of case. In the official rules we checked, initial training for court rosters runs from 14 hours on Mississippi's court-annexed list to 40 hours or more in many states, with extra hours for family cases in several. Some states set no statewide minimum.
See Mississippi, Texas, Florida or every state.
When will courses open?
We haven't set dates. Join the waitlist and we'll email you when the first courses open for your state, with the price and each course's approval status. Joining is free and doesn't commit you to anything, and you can ask us to remove you from the list at any time.
