Mediation statistics: mediators by state

20,000+ court-verified mediators from official court and government rosters, counted by state and per 100,000 residents. Latest roster check 2026-10-09.

These numbers count our listings, not every mediator in the country. Coverage differs by state because the public rosters differ: some states publish one statewide roster, others only court-by-court or partial lists, and a few rosters aren’t public yet.

* Florida uses the 2020 Census count (U.S. Census Bureau, 2020 Census P.L. 94-171), the Florida county file we hold; all other states use Vintage 2024 estimates.

“—” in Per 100,000: fewer than 10 listings, or the state’s court roster listings are still coming, so a rate would mislead.

How we counted

  • Court-verified listings come only from official court and government rosters; each one shows its source and the date we checked it. Latest roster check: 2026-10-09.
  • A mediator on more than one state’s roster is counted in each of those states, so state totals add up to more than the number of people.
  • Georgia isn’t shown yet while we confirm what its roster’s county field means.
  • Population: U.S. Census Bureau, Vintage 2024 county population estimates (July 1, 2024), summed from counties to states. Florida uses the 2020 Census count (U.S. Census Bureau, 2020 Census P.L. 94-171), the Florida county file we hold; all other states use Vintage 2024 estimates.
  • Per 100,000 residents = listings ÷ population × 100,000, shown only for states with at least 10 listings.
