Mediation and ADR

Remote mediation

Also called online mediation or virtual mediation

Mediation held by video or phone instead of in person.[1][2]

In more detail

Florida's civil rules allow remote mediation when the referral order, the parties' agreement or a court order provides for it.[1] Since April 20, 2026, the Northern District of California holds its mediation and early neutral evaluation sessions by videoconference unless all participants agree to meet in person.[2] Florida's confidentiality law covers participants who attend by telephone or video.[3]

Varies by state
