How does mediation work in Antrim County?

Antrim County is one of three counties in Michigan's Thirteenth Judicial Circuit, with Grand Traverse and Leelanau.^[8][1] Under the Michigan Court Rules, the court may send any contested domestic relations issue to mediation by written order, on the parties' written stipulation, a party's written motion or its own initiative.^[9] A party may object within 14 days, and a case may be exempted for reasons such as child abuse or neglect, domestic abuse unless both attorneys attend, or a risk to a party's health or safety.^[9] The circuit publishes court-approved lists of domestic relations and general civil mediators, each showing the mediator's fee.^[8][1] Both lists name CRS, Inc., a nonprofit whose volunteers mediate free or at low cost for people who cannot afford a private mediator.^[8][1] Most mediators listed below are on those lists.^[8][1]
