Livingston County's 44th Circuit Court hears civil cases alleging damages above $25,000 and all Family Court matters, including divorce, custody and support, and its Court Administration office handles the court's ADR work and mediator lists.[9][10] Parties may agree on their own mediator at any time, even before filing, and pay for mediation themselves; if they cannot agree, the court must appoint one from its approved list.[10] Approved mediators must meet Michigan Court Rule 2.411 for civil cases or MCR 3.216 for domestic relations cases.[10] In domestic cases, the court's order for mediation under MCR 3.216(C) issues by agreement or on the court's own motion, sets a 30-, 60- or 90-day deadline and divides the cost between the parties.[11] Most mediators listed below are on the 44th Circuit Court's approved civil and domestic mediator lists.[4][12]

These mediators say they work with Michigan clients online. They are on other states’ official rosters (shown on each listing), not Michigan’s. Where they serve is their own statement. Sorted: placements first, then a fair daily rotation. Featured listings are paid or sponsored placements. Court-verified listings come from official court rosters; other listings are labeled.
Court-ordered case? Courts may require a mediator from their own approved list for court-ordered cases. Check your court’s rules, or see how mediation works in Michigan.
Court-connected mediation in Michigan: Michigan circuit courts keep their own lists of mediators who met court-rule training requirements, and court clerks appoint only from those lists. Some courts encourage parties to pick their own mediator; the court rules themselves were not reviewed.
Private mediation in Michigan: No state license for private mediators was found in the sources reviewed. A State Bar of Michigan ethics opinion says a lawyer-mediator may not draft all the divorce papers for both parties while acting only as mediator.
