In Washington County Circuit Court (20th Judicial District), any case involving a dispute over custody or parenting time of minor children is subject to mediation under Supplementary Local Rule 12.011.[1] The court refers parents by order to the county's Conciliation Services, unless they stipulate to an independent mediator, and a mediation order is a condition to setting a hearing on a motion to modify custody or parenting time.[1] Conciliation Services charges $200 per person for the court-mandated package of mediation orientation, parent education and a required mediation session unless court fees were waived or deferred; voluntary parenting-time mediation costs $125 per person per session (503-846-3428).[2] The court also runs a remote small claims pretrial mediation program.[3] Listed mediators come from the federal District of Oregon's ADR panels[4] and the Oregon Employment Relations Board's arbitrator roster.[5]

Court-connected mediation in Oregon: Oregon circuit courts that refer cases to mediation keep panels of approved mediators meeting Uniform Trial Court Rules chapter 12. By statute, parties may instead pick a mediator by written agreement or use other mediation services at their expense.
Private mediation in Oregon: No state license for private mediators was found in the sources reviewed. Oregon's lawyer rules let a lawyer-mediator draft documents memorializing the mediated agreement, with a recommendation that each party get independent legal advice.
