In Erie County, the Court of Common Pleas' Office of Custody Conciliation helps parents settle shared custody arrangements through mediation, with a custody conciliator helping them reach an agreement that becomes a court order.[2][3] Parents who already agree schedule an agreement conference with the Custody Office (814-451-6234); otherwise one parent files a Complaint for Custody and the office sets an intake conference.[3] Without agreement there, the case is scheduled for a custody trial, or a temporary consent order may issue with a later conciliation conference if both parents agree.[3] Both parents must attend a four-hour seminar, Children Cope with Custody and/or Visitation; the court lists $100 for the seminar and $155.25 for a new custody complaint.[3][4] Most mediators below appear in the federal Western District of Pennsylvania's ADR neutral search.[1]
