How does mediation work in Kent County?
The Circuit Court for Kent County in Chestertown has civil and family ADR programs, and family mediation runs through its Family Support Services office.[5][6] The court may order parties with contested custody or access issues to mediation through Community Mediation Upper Shore at no charge.[6] For private mediation, the court appoints a mediator from its child access list if the parties cannot agree.[6] Family and marital property mediators may charge $400 per session, with each party paying half in advance directly to the mediator, and fee waivers may be available for eligible parties.[6] Community Mediation Upper Shore serves every Kent County resident free of charge, with or without a court referral.[5] Most mediators listed below come from MACRO's Circuit Court Roster and Mediator Excellence directories.[1][7]
