How this list is built: these are certified family mediators whose official Maryland roster record lists an attorney or in-state Bar member background. In mediation they work as neutrals: a mediator doesn’t represent or advise either side, even if they’re a lawyer. If you want legal advice about your own case, hire your own attorney. In the Circuit Court for Talbot County in Easton, the Family Services Program runs a custody and visitation mediation program.[3] When the court finds custody or visitation at issue, it can order the parties to two 2-hour sessions with a court-appointed mediator, who drafts a parenting plan if they agree and sends it to the parties and their attorneys.[3] Fees are $100 per hour per person for the four hours of court-ordered mediation, and a party who cannot pay may ask the court to waive Family Services fees.[3] The program's page links the court's list of approved mediators.[3] Mid Shore Community Mediation Center in Easton offers free mediation, and District Court ADR services are free to participants.[4] Most mediators listed below come from MACRO's Circuit Court Roster and Mediator Excellence directories.[2][5]
