How this list is built: these are certified family mediators whose official Oregon roster record lists an attorney or in-state Bar member background. In mediation they work as neutrals: a mediator doesn’t represent or advise either side, even if they’re a lawyer. If you want legal advice about your own case, hire your own attorney. In Coos County, family mediation runs through the Coos and Curry County Circuit Court, which makes mediation mandatory under Supplementary Local Rule 8.012 for any contested child custody, parenting time or visitation issue in cases filed in Coos or Curry County.[1] The court issues an order assigning the case to mediation and gives the parents a list of approved mediators.[1] Before contacting a mediator, each parent completes a mediation orientation by watching an introductory video.[1] The court pays for up to six hours of mediation; parents who choose to continue pay the rate set by the court-connected mediator.[1] Parties with an active protective order or criminal no-contact order may be exempt but must request a waiver.[1] Mediators listed below are on the court's list of parent mediation providers.[1]
