Indiana County's Court of Common Pleas forms Pennsylvania's Fortieth Judicial District and lists a child custody mediator on its staff.[2] Custody cases follow a three-step process under Local Rules L-1915.1 and L-1915.2, beginning with an initial custody conference about 30 to 45 days after the complaint is filed.[3] If that conference ends without agreement, either party may file a Motion for Mediation Conference; parties first attend the Children In Between parent education course.[3] Seven days before the conference, the parties must deposit $200 with the Prothonotary, and the county pays the fee for a party granted in forma pauperis status.[3] If mediation fails, the mediator refers the case to the court for a full hearing.[3] Mediators listed below appear in the federal Western District of Pennsylvania's ADR neutral search.[1]
