Mediation and ADR

Community mediation center

A local program that trains community members to mediate and offers mediation to the public at little or no cost.[1]

In more detail

Maryland's courts describe a network of community mediation centers that train local residents to provide free or low-cost mediation, alongside private mediators and the courts' own programs.[1] Virginia's standards note that a court program or community mediation center may do the screening interviews before a case is mediated.[2] Neighbor, landlord-tenant and small claims disputes are common at these centers.

Varies by state

Community mediation exists in many states, but funding, case types and fees vary by center. Find your state’s rules.
