How to become a mediator in Pennsylvania

Who certifies or lists mediators in Pennsylvania?

No statewide roster found. Mediator qualifications are set by Pa.R.C.P. 1940.4, and local courts keep their own lists (e.g., Chester County's Family Court Administrative Office keeps a list of custody mediators who meet local rule 1940.4.A).

This is general information, not legal advice. It covers Pennsylvania only. Rules change, so check the official source before you enroll in a course.

Do I need a state credential to mediate in Pennsylvania?

State credentials and court rosters mainly matter for court-ordered or court-connected cases, where a court may require a mediator from its own list. If you plan to mediate cases that people bring to you privately, check whether Pennsylvania or your profession has any rule that applies. See do I need a mediator certified in my state?
