How this list is built: these are certified family mediators whose official Maryland roster record lists an attorney or in-state Bar member background. In mediation they work as neutrals: a mediator doesn’t represent or advise either side, even if they’re a lawyer. If you want legal advice about your own case, hire your own attorney. The Circuit Court for Somerset County in Princess Anne runs a Family Court Services Program for divorce, custody and visitation cases, which MACRO lists as the court's Family ADR Program.[3][4] For custody and visitation, the court selects a court-approved mediator with 40 hours of basic and 20 hours of domestic training; two sessions are suggested, and costs are prorated between the parties.[3] For property, alimony and child support, the court appoints a mediator from its approved list, and an agreement goes to the court for approval.[3] The court may not order mediation where there is a genuine threat of physical or sexual abuse of a party or a child.[3] Most mediators listed below come from MACRO's Circuit Court Roster and Mediator Excellence directories.[2][5]
